Edu creative assignment on global education

For my creative assignment I chose to answer the question: what groups do you belong to and what groups have you been assigned do you share membership in any of these groups with people from different nations or cultures? I took this question pretty generally meaning I considered what groups I belong in as a member of the world and universe and also the groups I belong to that mostly define me. I chose to make a collage since I couldn't get the other creative option to work. I first put a picture of students in my collage to represent the most important aspect of my life right now; being a student and going to school. Many young adults attend school around the world and we can all relate to each other as students, I also put a picture of an educator because I have had the opportunity to educate and it is something I keep growing passionate about. This passion can be shared around the world and is one job that many countries, nations, and cultures depend upon. I also put a mother with her baby. Although I am not a mother yet I am soon to be and I have a lot of choices culturally about how I will raise my child which I feel puts me in membership culturally to other mothers. I say this because my child will be half Moroccan and I intend to interpret this culture into my child's life. Every mother does this with their child, it is inevitable. so I feel I belong to a mothering group with a bigger emphasis on culture, being able to relate to raising a child to a specific culture. I also put dancers. Dance is a big part of my life and always has been. I have taught it and I have been taught it so I feel as a part of a group. There are many dance styles and variations around the world and dance is important to many people like it is to me, that is why I have out this as one of my groups. Lastly I put a free spirit. I feel as if though I am a free sprit and although I haven't met many people with the same mentality I know they exist and being part of this group makes me more open to new things and more accepting of what's out of the ordinary.  

Why Teach?...

As the world keeps spinning it keeps changing. One thing that changes a lot in our world is the aspect of teaching and educating. In America education is becoming more and more important and crucial. It is becoming more professionalized and more strict with its curriculum and requirements. Our education today expects a lot more out of us than a lot of us could probably ever imagine, but in my opinion this isn't a bad thing. Not only do teachers expect a lot more out of their students now, but people expect a lot more out of the teachers in our society. This being said the question arises, why teach? I have been exploring  a lot of the reasons people teach this week and this is what I have come up with.

Some reasons to teach that are honest and good are because you have the power to make a difference, and the power to undo the wrong that one feels has been brought upon them.  Some people become teachers because they want to make learning an easier thing to do for students since it was never easy for them personally. Having this background I feel as if though this makes the most passionate type of teacher. Personally this is why I want to become a teacher and I can relate to his very much. Other reasons people become a teacher is because they are natural with their students and can connect to them, others enjoy the process of education and teaching gives you a life long learning experience, as long as you are teach you are learning, even if you don't know it. Other reasons to become a teacher are for the many vacations one gets, for the day never being boring or just the same as yesterday, and the hours a teacher works. Having listed all of these reasons to teach, again the one reason that stands out the most to me is to undo the wrong that has been done by past educators and to make a difference in the world of learning. Noticing a problem is the first way on the road to fixing it and if more teachers taught for this reason maybe all of the bad habits of teaching would disappear, its a long shot but you have to think, what if?

While there are a lot of positive aspects to the teaching field there are a lot of negatives, like the fact that ti is draining and tiring. A teacher constantly has to be on their feet and focused and if one can't amount to these expectations teaching won't be a pleasant job. Some people also teach because the hours and vacations are pretty convenient and this is not the right reason to become a teacher if you are not passionate about it, its wasting bot your time and your students time if you ask me. Another thing that could affect ones choice to be a teacher is always being around children, if you are not comfortable with this idea is teaching really something you'd like to do? Also while teaching is a profession it isn't a highly paid one for everything a teacher must endure and that is something to consider as well. When you ask yourself why teach? be sure to be positive that what ever reason it is that there is passion and caring behind your reason, and your teaching experience will be a happy and fulfilling one.

While researching the topic of why people teach for my education class at Salem State I discovered a pin on pinterest containing many quotes which bring out the positivism teaching has on the lives of many (students and teachers included) and I thought it was worth sharing and also really opened my eyes on why people teach, I hope you enjoy what I have found!

Hello Blog world!
My name is Emily Murray and I'm new to the whole blogging scene but I'm very excited to take advantage of blogs and the use of my very own blog!
I am a Student at Salem State University and I am a freshmen here. I currently commute to school and have my own apartment right here in Salem. My major right now is elementary education, someday I hope to refine my profession to special education, but that is after my bachelors degree is obtained! I have this blog for my education class on the premises of elementary education and also to share new and exciting aspects of education which I find very tangible to the up and coming teacher. I have a passion for teaching. I have been teaching dance lessons since the age of ten starting with students of about two years old and going up from there. I have taken dance classes myself for over 14 years and am now taking them at the college level, and its so exciting! I also have had the opportunity to teach in a preschool for two years as a student teacher. This program entitled me to plan and portray my very own lessons and helped me see the type of work I would be doing in the future. Because of this experience I know I am certain that teaching is the right profession for me! Along with teaching I also enjoy walking, my dogs, being around my friends, the ocean, and just the simple aspects of life. I hope you enjoy the posts here and feel free to leave a comment!
